The foundation Memorial Holocaust Leiden (Stichting Herdenking Jodenvervolging Leiden) has the objective to make residents of Leiden and the surrounding area aware of contemporary anti-Semitism and the Holocaust in Leiden by organizing an Annual Memorial Service and through offering education materials for schools.
Many people are involved in the Annual Memorial Service of the persecution of the Jews in Leiden. In addition to the board, which is responsible for organizing this service, there are many people who take care of practical aspects, such as developing educational materials, taking care of the flower monument, doing research and creating and managing the website. They form a broad representation of Leiden society.
In 2022 the foundation started organizing the placement of stumbling stones (Stolpersteine in German). More than 250 Jewish fellow citizens were deported and murdered during the war. In the coming years, stumbling stones will be placed for them at the addresses where they have lived.
